I'm a little unsure whether mechatronics at university would be an ideal pathway for my future.. I'm 17 at the moment and plan to start university in 2011 after completing my A-levels. I'm currently studying Maths, Physics, Spanish and Chemistry but plan to change Chemistry and take up Further Maths next year as most universities said it would be ideal for me to do so if I was able to. Back to the subject.. I've been looking at courses and ones that interest me are physics, aerospace engineering and mechatronics. My main ambition is to do a physics course at Oxford however places on that course are very competitive but I don't want to complete a physics course at another university where it would be more likely I don't end up having a physics related career so applying to 5 universities to do physics is out of the question for me. I have been browsing around the UCAS website looking at courses on offer and came across mechatronics. Reading about it seems really interesting as I have began to take a keen interest in programming although I'm just at the very novice ranks at the moment. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any advice on the situation as I'm unsure whether applying to do it would be a wasted decision? Perhaps someone may have experience of studying the course? Or maybe someone with a career in mechatronics or even just mechanical/electrical engineering. Would greatly appreciate any replies! Other relevant course suggestions would be appreciated as well! (To avoid questions on this I'm predicted A's across all subjects so choice of university is not as restricted)... Read More »
